Default Decent Monk build for Crystal Desert?

Hey guys, new forum user here . Due to two of my friends picking up Guild Wars in the past week or so, I decided to make a new character to help them out, then delete it further on.

Luckily, this never happened, and I am now playing one of the most satisfying professions ever, in my opinion, which is a Monk.

Lets skip the story, and get straight to the point. We've all hit the Crystal Desert now, and I'm looking for a decent build that will help them, henchmen and I to get through it successfully. I've done my homework, but I lack skills which need to be obtained throughout the later part of the game. Also, note that I only have Prophecies ;D

My current build is:

Level 17
12 Healing
11 Divine Favour

[skill]Orison of Healing[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Healing Seed[/skill][skill]Heal Party[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill][skill]Remove Hex[/skill][skill]Resurrect[/skill]

As you can most likely see, its very energy ineffecient and most of the time I run out of energy in large fights if there are no other Monks around.
Protection seems to dislike me, (at least my previous attempt at it did), and my resurrect skill is far from helpful.

Thanks for your time.

assuming your secondary profession is mesmer, it may be worth investing some points into inspiration magic and taking skills like [skill]Channeling[/skill] or [skill]Inspired Hex[/skill]. There's also [skill]Energy Tap[/skill] but it has a 3 second cast time.

Forget healing breeze - there are so many better choices for it. (healing touch)

Then go cap woh and you have very good heal, use it instead of heal party.

Level 17 doesn't cut it, you should be level 20 by now. Go back and do some of the quests you skipped. Also, make sure you do the 15 attribute quest there. Ok, now you can capture Word of Healing in all three of the desert missions. Bring a signet of capture into the first one you do and get that. Take out healing breeze for that because it is a terrible, terrible skill. Healing Seed is all right in a melee heavy partry, but I wouldn't use it, especially in an only 6 man group. Replace it with Healing Touch for a self-heal. Remove Hex is decent, but the 2 second casting time kills it, I'd replace it with Holy Veil or Smite Hex (no attribute points in smite). Your rez skll is also not very good. I usually take Rebirth, but never use any of the rez skills in battle. Now, depending on your secondary, whigh you can change once you've done all the missions in the desert, you can use energy management skills or not. As mentioned above, the mesmer skills. If you're a secondary ele you can take Glyph of Lesser Energy.

Thanks guys for your feedback.

McMullen: That was the original idea, but they slowly grew out of my build. I guess Inspired Hex can replace Remove Hex.

Niila: Heh, didn't know that about Healing Breeze. Going to cap WoH as soon as I can.

Lotrfish: I'll try to boost up to 20, and thanks for your comments.

dargon: Maybe, maybe not. We'll see, wont we

Hope I can help with this link on Guru: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=207

There's lots of good basic and advanced information in the builds section.

I created my monk strictly for farming, but have been forced on occasion to throw on a healing or protection build to help on missions/quests.

Congratulations on creating and sticking with your Monk. You'll have a fun, rewarding, and frustrating time!

Also, a note about Lotrfish's comment, those one of those 15 attribute quests are avialble only after the desert, so don't worry about it TOO much.
